Between March 2020 and February 2022 the club posted a guide called 攻略｜如何加入深圳头马 nine times. Not nine guides: the same guide, nine times.
That is the interesting part. Somebody kept being asked, so somebody kept reposting it.
What never changed
The three steps are word for word identical in every version:
1.累计参会 2 次； 2.完成 1 次 Table Topic（2 分钟即兴演讲）或者 1 次会议角色 3.联系 VPM 帮你完成后续入会步骤
Come twice. Speak once, either two minutes off the cuff or by taking a job in the running of the evening. Then find the VP Membership.
So is the money:
首次加入头马需缴纳 1200 元入会费，其中包含一次性注册费 600 元以及 6 个月会费 600 元， 以后每半年续费一次。
Twelve hundred the first time, six hundred every half year after. Two years of reposting and not one number moved.
What it cost before that
The guide from September 2019 is the odd one out, because it quotes Toastmasters International’s fee directly, in dollars, and argues with you about it:
头马半年交 45 美金……45 美金相当于一周才 1.75 美金。为了自己，从牙缝里挤挤喽！少喝杯奶茶
Forty five US dollars for six months, worked out to 1.75 a week, which the writer suggests you find by skipping one bubble tea.
The same post is the clearest statement of the entry bar the club has ever published:
作为一个开放的俱乐部，我们来者不拒，唯一的要求就是满 18 岁
An open club, everyone welcome, and the only requirement is being eighteen.
What did change
Not the rules. The pictures.
Each rewrite carries a different set of photographs of what a member gets, and that list grows: the 2020 versions show meetings and a new member orientation; by 2021 there is hiking and rock climbing; the February 2022 version adds a coffee tasting. The club was not changing its terms, it was changing its answer to a different question, the one people actually ask, which is not what does it cost but what would I be joining.

The oldest of them is from March 2014, the club’s second post ever, and it does not explain how to join at all. It explains what Toastmasters is, how it reached China, and how many clubs there were by 2012. The joining instructions came later, once there was somebody asking.
