Some of this the club wrote down at the time. Most of it we went and found.
Three channels the club no longer uses turned out to still be readable: a Google Group with four years of weekly meeting notices, a deleted Douban site whose photographs were still sitting on Douban’s servers, and a Facebook page nobody had logged into since 2022. Between them they date meetings, name officers and record two venue moves to the month.
What follows is all of it, with the sources attached. Where a source contradicts another, both are shown and neither is picked.
Rooms we have met in
Every venue the club has used, as far as the archives record it. Two of the moves are dated to the month because someone changed the address at the bottom of a weekly email and everyone followed.
Presidents
The club elects a new officer team every six months. This is the list of presidents we have been able to source, with the gaps left visible rather than filled in.
The Douban archive
The club kept a Douban site until it stopped being updated in 2019, and it was deleted some time after 2021. The pages survive in the Internet Archive; the photographs were pulled back off Douban's image servers, which outlived the page they belonged to.
The Google Sites archive
The club's first website. It now requires a login, but the Internet Archive holds a capture showing content frozen around 2008. It is the only known source for the club's first decade, and it has not been excavated properly yet.
What is Toastmasters?
What actually happens at a meeting, and what the words mean. The meeting records are full of terms like TME, Table Topics and L5P2; this is where they are explained.
