Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of meeting locations.
Headquartered in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, the organization has more than 280,000 members in 13,500 clubs in 116 countries.
Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people of all backgrounds become more confident in front of an audience.
国际演讲会是一个非牟营利的教育组织，在全球各地，按固定时间的会议训练公众的演讲和领导技巧。组织总部设于美国加利福尼亚州圣玛格丽塔兰乔，现有 13,500 多个分会，分布在全球 116 多个国家，共 280 000 多名会员。

### Toastmasters in China
The first Toastmasters club in mainland China was started in Shanghai in 1999. The first Toastmasters District in China, District 85, was established in the year of 2006-2007, and it has been a huge help and support for the establishment and growth of Toastmasters clubs around China. In the 4 years between 2006 and 2010, the number of Toastmasters Clubs in mainland China grew from about 20 to more than 100. Toastmasters Club in HK and Macau joined District 85 on July 1st, 2010. In the end of Jun 30, 2012, there are about 220 Toastmasters clubs in District 85, and over 7000 members. Under the rapid development of Toastmasters in China, a new district is ready to launch. The new district split from District 85 is District 89, established in July 1st, 2012.
The first Toastmasters Club in District 89 is Hong Kong Toastmasters Club, which was founded in 1954. Now Hong Kong and Macau have 56 clubs, while the south and west part of mainland China have 55 clubs. 53% of the Toastmasters Clubs in District 89 are community clubs; at the same time 32% Toastmasters Clubs build in the companies and 15% clubs build in the colleges. With most of the clubs are English clubs, we also have some Mandarin, Cantonese or Bilingual Toastmasters Clubs as well. District 89’s members are mostly people between 20 and 60 years old, 52% female and 48% male, with more than 90% of them being working professionals and about 10% college students. 75% of the members are Chinese citizens (including people at Hong Kong and Macau), and the rest 25% are expatriates at China. As a new district with diversity culture, we aim to help more people coming from all walks of lives to benefit from the Toastmasters educational system, to improve their communication and leadership skills, and find the courage to change.
中国大陆第一个演讲分会于 1999 年在上海成立。 国际演讲会在中国的第一个大区于 2006 至 2007 年间成立，其后大力支持和協助演讲分会在多个城市的创办和成长。从 2006 年到 2010 年，短短 4 年间，中国大陆的演讲分会由 20 个增加到 100 多个。港澳地区的演讲分会于 2010 年 7 月 1 日加入国际演讲会中国 85 大区；令中国 85 大区演讲分会总数，于 2012 年 6 月 30 日达 220 个，会员近 7000 名。国际演讲会在中国的快速发展下，促成新的大区──89 大区，于 2012 年 7 月 1 日正式从 85 大区拆分出来。
89 大区第一个演讲分会是「香港演讲分会」，创建于 1954 年。目前，香港和澳门共有 56 分会，而中国大陆的南部和西部共有 55 分会。89 大区中，53% 是社区分会 ；约 32% 为公司分会， 15% 属高校分会。除了佔大多数的英语分会外，我们也有一些普通话、 广东话及双语演讲分会。
89 大区中的成员大多是介乎 20 至 60 岁之间，52% 为女性和 48% 的男性，其中超过 90% 为在职人士，约 10% 为学生，75% 的会员为华人（包括香港和澳门)，其余 25% 为旅居的外籍人士。作为拥有多元文化的新 89 大区，我们的目的是吸納更多来自各阶层的人，使他们受惠于国际演讲会的教育系统，以改善他们的沟通和领导技巧，找寻改变的勇气。
而我们的Shenzhen Toastmasters Club，就属于其中之一，我们是深圳第一家Toastmasters Club，成立于 2003 年 8 月 9 日！
