Meeting #1009

The most impressive thing

Prepared speeches

Three speeches, and the titles alone were enough to start a guessing game in the group the night before: a leader with no power, being favored by the gods, and one more kid. One speaker headed off the obvious assumption early: “mine has nothing to do with religion.”

Stella asked what leadership looks like without authority (PM 3.4), Christy spoke on “Favored by the Gods,” and Min asked “One more kid?” as her icebreaker-level project.

Word of the Day

“Spectacular,” announced at midday with homework attached: “@everyone, try to make a sentence before meeting.”

The On-Camera Master’s complaint

Every meeting has someone behind the lens, and this one produced the definitive account of the job’s occupational hazards: “turns out being on-camera master has its downsides… can’t focus on listening, and nobody takes photos of the master doing it; meanwhile the hark master is grabbing all the snacks before I can get any.”

The photos were good enough that the group wanted her permanently assigned: “I want to weld you to the OCM role for good, haha, the photos really are gorgeous.”

Behind the scenes

Someone printed fifteen paper agendas that afternoon after a call for help in the group. There were cookies. The 50 yuan of snacks got reimbursed the next day.
