Unfortunately, but fortunately

The theme turned out to be a prophecy for the speaker lineup. Unfortunately, one scheduled speaker was stranded by rainstorms in Guangxi and another withdrew before the meeting. Fortunately, Jacob stepped up with “Wealth” (MS 2.1), and Polly delivered her icebreaker, “What actually matters in your 20s?” Two speeches instead of four, and the meeting rolled on.

A first-time SAA

Mini, who had joined the club just the week before, took her first role as SAA — actually two roles, doubling as Ah-counter. Her Ah-counter introduction followed the official script so closely that someone remarked they could hear the manual in it, marveling that a brand-new member had already done the homework. Her own review afterwards was blunt about what she’d fix next time: bring a speaker and really rock and roll the warm-up. That warm-up already had the room doing exercise routines on video before the gavel came down.

One member meeting her for the first time was struck by the combination: beautiful and full of energy. What kind of people does this club attract?

Behind the lens

Tracy, the club’s longtime volunteer photographer, was back — nearly twenty photos of the evening landed in the group before the meeting ended. The room’s verdict: their professional photographer had returned, and everyone was thrilled.
