376th Meeting

The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:

Hill, he was talking about a book for caring little baby, since he has been a new father, we could always feel happiness on his face.

Lancy, a new mama for a boy, is a very energetic person. What impressed me most was her words: SZTM is an excellent book to her.

One thing you could never expect that, 2 old friends from Australia Mick and Jay came to our meeting.

It is the first regular meeting right after the Shenzhen Spring Conference. We were still all indulged in that amazing experience. And we’d like to share all this to our friends in coming days.

Tonight’s meeting came as usual, before the meeting some guests arrived, some of them were their first time, just like me a few years ago, I read something similar on their faces, hehe. hope they start a new journey from now on!

At 7:30, everything got ready and we started our meeting, SAA committee Franklin began it with meeting rules, his body language was quite better than before.

See, here is our SZTM meeting mission: The mission of ShenZhen Toastmasters’ Club is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.

For many times we read that without any attention. After a half year’s meeting joining, we got to know this is not an easy thing to achieve. But we did make it better these days. Of course, there is still a long way for us all to go.

Our current president Hellen Duan opened the meeting with the review of the spring conference. Surely for such a great event, its well running required a good cooperation. Hellen reminded us to learn this TEAM spirit: Together Everyone Achieve More.

The Toastmaster of this evening, our current VPE Nick Gong took over the stage. Nick introduced the adjustment of the meeting agenda. Here I must represent the whole universe to express strong disdain to the release of pigeon from somebody. Then Nick introduced the Facilitators of the meeting one by one from Michael Liu as Ah-counter, Franklin Zheng as Timer, to Jen Yu as Grammarian.

Ah-counter Michael Liu, looked like a reading guy, right? He was never nervous as a new member, how admired, jealous, and hated! BTW, our 376th meeting agenda is made by him, he would join our election to campaign for VPE for new term. Pls support and vote him.

The Table topics master is Read Wang, our VPPR committee. For this meeting, the theme is “books”.

Koby, a speaker without any scripts, conquered so many young girls’ heart by his excellent speaking and his good style on the stage. Tonight the he was talking about life and book.

The evaluator of table topics for tonight meeting is our lovely sister Ivy Cai. She’s been so kindly teaching us so much about how to behave better on the stage. And her advice about how to be a better TTM was useful to me!

The channel turns to prepared speech time now! Our first Speaker Han Che, a banana guy, was giving a workshop about another way of communication: Open Space Design. Han’s speech beat our heart,9 Mins was too short for her speech, we would like him to share more with us in coming meetings.

Wow, Ice Break by Ferderic Fang, he was very tall, sunny and brave guy. His speech was about her story in struggling in English study, Ferderic, congratulation on him!!!! Your journey here began from now on, and we are responsible to tell you that you will get improvement in all aspects in our SZTM family.

The host of Guests sharing time was our club flower Shelley Choi. Woo, so many new faces tonight! Warmly welcome, and thank you for your coming!

Adv 4.5: The Humorous Speech by Donnya, the last speech in ACB journey. How funny! Donnya made a wonderful humorous performance, the laughing was turning over each corner of the room. That is the power of toastmasters: after years’ study you’ve already got such a great ability that even yourself can not believe.

Tonight we have a special section: Acknowledgement. Our IPP Nature Sheng was presenting ACB award to Donnya. Congratulations on Donnya! Never forget there are still 20 speeches for you to get the DTM.

Master for the Moment of Truth was Hill He. He guided all to review a video for the SZ spring conference. Then Hill shared his inspiration about the conference. He used a word “Soar high” to draw out his feeling full of inspiration! Also, he invited Ivy to share her feeling about the meeting. One thing you could never expect that, 2 old friends from Australia Mick and Jay came to our meeting.
