New Officers Election

We had the special meeting: New Officers Election, on May 26th, 2015. The atmosphere was lovely and warm. We had more than 10 candidates run for 7 officer positions. More than 15 guests witnessed this meaningful moment with us.

At the beginning, Jenny Gao gave us a warm welcome and a brief introduction of this meeting. Then Michael Liu as the President made the opening remarks. Our meeting began!

Strong Zheng was the Toastmaster of this special meeting. His humorous style brought laughter for audiences and ease for all candidates.

Eric Liang and Danielle Ouyang were the candidates for President. Eric joined the SZTM only for a month, but he wasn’t a ‘new member’ at all since he had attended 64 meetings and tried every appointment holder before he made the decision. He showed a remarkable leadership and charisma. Another candidate was Danielle Ouyang who was the treasurer at present. She was an old member in SZTM and had rich experiences about meeting organization. She showed great love for this big family. We were all moved by her passion and loyalty. Eric was the elected president at last because of his brilliant leadership and ambition for the best toastmasters club.

The competition between Steven Su and Cherry Zhang for the Vice President of Education was also fierce. As a senior member in toastmasters club, Steven Su began his toastmasters’ journey since 1999. He was fully experienced and ambitious to make the first club in Shenzhen to be the best one. Cherry on the other hand, was a new face in Toastmasters. However, her excellent English and remarkable public speaking skills made her a shining star in this election. These also helped Cherry got the Vice President of Education successfully.

With great enthusiasm, Kathy Hu was elected to be the Vice President of Membership. With good-looking and humorous words, Seaborn Lee was highly favored for the Vice President of Public Relationship. Carol Ban finally made her decision to be the Secretary, because she wanted to serve all the members and help other officers to make the club better and better. As the richest person in SZTM, Danielle Ouyang was elected to be the Treasurer again due to her good financial management ability. The new member Louis Liu was elected to be the SAA - Sergeant At Arms. He had been ready to devote himself for this big family and he was also Single And Available. Hiahia~

The election part ended up with the ceremony of the Flag Transition between the current president Michael and the new elected president Eric. Besides, all the new elected officers chose their committee members to support them. There were totally 12 persons in the new elected team. We believe that this team will lead our SZTM to a bright future.

After the wonderful ceremony, Steven Su did his first workshop about Teamwork and Leadership. He said that everyone in our team was essential, just like each finger to our hands, without anyone, the whole team couldn’t achieve the targets we set. We have the same goal and we should learn from each other and help each other, and also act as one. Just like our SZTM: one for all, all for one.
