429th Meeting

The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:

Our friend Star from ACME, imagined that if he had a child, he would provide him/her a most relaxable childhood.

Dear Fellow Members and Distinguished Guests,

Tomorrow, we will have the exciting time of the SZTM 429th meeting.

Our elegant lady-Carol will lead us to discuss the theme-Childhood. Nobody is like Michael Jackson, who had been wondering about whether he did have a childhood. So, everybody should have enough things to share his onw stories under the instruction.

Edward, Chinese name 鸡血弟, will inspire us by his own experience. In his speech, he will use all kinds of body language to get the points and make all the audience convinced.

“Improve Yourself”–that should be everybody’s continuous task. We will enjoy what Edward thinks on this.

Devoted ourselves to make SZTM as the most professional and international club, We also invite a super star In the aspect of public speaking–Clare Wootton. Coming from Britain, She will delivery a speech—How to Make a Professional First Impression.

In this speech, she will make an analysis about how to impress others and get benefits from that. Clare has a big team of fans. To tell the truth, we are a little worried whether our classroom are big enough to contain her fans and SZTM members together.

First come, first serve. Together, we achieve more.

When we talk about Childhood, what’s the first thing jumping into your head? Is it the song sang by Luo Dayou? Or the book written by Gorky? Maybe for most of us, it’s the happiest life without worry and sorrow, or the most-pro family with laugh and tears. On 9th Jun, in 2015, at SZTM’s 429thMeeting, our members and guests took the Time Machine back to the childhood together. All of us had a lot of fun that night.

First stop is the Table Topic Session. In this session, we had 7 speakers share their stories or opinions about the childhood. Our member Danielle told us about her most beautiful memory in childhood; Our guest Julia shared us with the endless homework when she was young; Our friend Star from ACME, imagined that if he had a child, he would provide him/her a most relaxable childhood.

Then we came to the Prepared Speech Session. Edward Zeng delivered a marvelous speech of his CC5 in this session. His topic was Improve Myself. With clear structure, he told us how to be active, set goals and dead lines, distinguish important and urgent tasks. His booming voice showed his confidence and passion on his life, which inspired us a lot.

At last, we moved to the highlight! Our English friend Clare Wootton provided us a wonderful workshop about how to make a professional first impression. She used a quite vivid way to involve all the audiences into her workshop. We stood up, shook hands with others, understood the significance of shaking hands in a professional way. By telling us the culture differences between western and Chinese, she taught us how to impress foreigners with our knowledge and behavior.

Encouraged by the wonderful meeting, 2 guests, Tingting and Lunine decided to join our club that night. Including Elly and Celia, 4 new members in our New Member Induction Session. We were so happy for them!

All the members and guests enjoyed the Time Travel that night! We expect next marvelous meeting of Shenzhen Toastmaster Club! See ya!
