483rd Meeting

The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:

Lynn spends at least 2hours per day and every 10 minutes she need checking WECHAT message to make sure she didn’t miss a million dollars.

If someone devoted one of his kidneys to get an iPhone, he would be pretty crazy!

Without iPhone, she may not find SZTM and enjoy the warm atmosphere!

First of all, We’d like to thanks all the meeting roles of their contribution

An Overwhelming NightOn 12th Apr., 2016, we enjoyed an amazing happy hour for our 483th meeting in SZTM. During the meeting, our reliable core member Mr. Louise Liu delivery the key word ‘Overwhelming’, which means excellent and screwing up.

Second, We have always had the greatest admiration for the brave table topic speakers ☀They are really something! In that table topic session, our beautiful member Elly Zheng proposed a meaningful topic which is very closed to our daily life: ‘Cellphone’. Our warm-hearted member Edward mentioned about the phenomenon of phubbing. The world is in fast changing, the mobile changed our life in to a mobile life, family members may have no conversation and communication before sleeping. It’s really awesome! Unlike Edward, our senior member Kobby expressed his opinion why cellphone made-in-China always follow the trend of APPLE or SUMSANG: The Chinese cellphone providers are lack of innovation. If they can take more attention on human intelligence development, they would get advantages on mobile or robot, offering the equipment understanding human being better. Next, Nina told us the most difference between smartphone and traditional phone. Via smartphone we can see movie, enjoy the surfing the internet, make online social via WECHAT, and enjoy the most important function for girls like Nina – shopping on TAOBAO or JD! Ms. Lynn and Dudu expressed a great resonance on this views in their own speech. Lynn spends at least 2hours per day and every 10 minutes she need checking WECHAT message to make sure she didn’t miss a million dollars. All of them emphasis on the importance of real social communication, it’s no good of ignoring the real world around us. Vivi, one of our beautiful guests, who is as well as a skilled English teacher, delivered her short speech on how she love iPhone so much. Without iPhone, she may not find SZTM and enjoy the warm atmosphere! That’s really a great reason, haha. At the same time, Vivi also expressed that people should treat the iPhone in a rational way. If someone devoted one of his kidneys to get an iPhone, he would be pretty crazy! At the end of this session, Elly proposed we should stop being a phubbing and pay more attention to our real life. This meaningful call got an overwhelming support in the audience.

During the prepared speech session, our sparky new member Amanda delivered her CC1 speech: A Special Friend. This secretory person is not only her friend, but also her intimate sister and her kind teacher! When Amanda feel sad, she encourage her to be more confident, when Amanda drives too hard on work, she make a kind note of taking more careful on health. Some times they also quarrel with each other on small issues, but the clouds always disappear in the end. Wow, what a lucky dog Amanda is! Guess who is the mysterious role for Amanda? After Amanda, one of our famous club flowers – Mr. Yankee delivered his CC8 speech: Ultrasound Machine. He used a well-organized PPT as the visual aid. From the PPT, we got a clear idea of Doppler Effect and how the ultrasound can benefit us in life, even we cannot hear ultrasound at all by our ears. Yankee used the images, charts in this PPT, together with his vivid gestures and patient verbal illustration, we learn a lot of the applications of ultrasound machine, such as the application areas of B mode ultrasound and C mode ultrasound. Yankee remind me of my professor when I was in my college. Thank you, ultrasound-professor Yankee.

A Special Member

Sarah He <你若愿意，你会更好！>She had shared what she learned in Toastmaster and how she put it on her career. Following was the most anticipated program, Sara He devoted her moving workshop for us. The topic is: If you’re willing to be better, you can make it in Toastmaster. Sharing with some moving stories ranging from 2007~2016, she told us SZTM is a place you can feel warm, trust, respect and safe, Toastmaster is a good platform where leaders are made, from which she built up her skills on competent communication and competent leadership. She made it! She shared 4 important spirits for us: Be kind and be firm.Keep initial determination in mind, insisting your clear target.Keep learning.Find a good platform. Finally, Sara He made a colorful metaphor: If you’re an egg, Toastmaster is a warm and safe nest to help you grow up into a strong eagle, no matter how fragile you’re now!

After that, our super TME Zach shared his feeling of TM, TM is like an e-commerce platform, which offers the attractive goods on line and gathers the customers purchasing goods and service in it. What a beautiful metaphor! Like Zach said, when we were enjoying the listening, the learning, the educating, our facilitators were devoting their great effort behind the scenes to run the meeting. Teem members need to know what they are doing well, what they are not doing well, and how they can improve. This is our another reason why we choose Toastmaster! If you really want to learn something good, the FEEDBACK is really important.
