509th Meeting ReviewEvaluation Contest ReviewIt’s an honour to have so many distinguished guests with us today, especially those from NETM & ACME club. Today is a special day, when we finally had the Evaluation Speech Contest, which is indeed a fierce and high standard contest!

Our humorous king, Wilson Li, hosted the meeting tonight. Since it was a serious contest, instead of joking around and being cheerful, Wilson dressed up professionally, and also followed the contest agenda very strictly throughout the meeting.

Firstly, we had a special demo speech presented by Nate, a handsome guy from another club. “Start something new, leave your comfortable zone and be a better person.”

Nate shared with us his own travel experience. While traveling alone, he is not an outgoing person at first, but finally he decided to chat with others initiatively, miraculously he got four new friends during the trip. And he even knew more about other country’s culture.

There were five evaluators in total to comment on Nate’s speech. All of them were asked to wait outside for their turns to do the evaluation.

The first one was our grandpa Koby Sa! Highlight from Koby’s speech, “ I found there is no reaction from Nate when I’m speaking, so I changed my content and wanted to made it more powerful” Yes! Koby made a very high-standard evaluation both horizontally and vertically.

The next evaluator was our senior member Nick Gong, he sang high praise of the content and the structure of Nate’s speech, because one’s own experience can always has resonance for us. Nick also suggested a better stage performance for Nate.

And then is our ‘haha Uncle’ Micheal Liu. Like his other speeches, he began his evaluation with a humorous dialogue”Hi Nate, if I knew you are the demo speaker today, I would sit more closer to you, hahaha”, which made all the audiences laugh. And then he expressed his opinions in four aspects: good topic, well-preparation, the power to touch the audiences and the key words. Very clear, coherent and convincing evaluation, which is the core reason why he won the first prize today!

The competition was becoming fiercer and fiercer. Here was the fourth contestant Louis Liu. It was also a challenge for himself, and congratulations to him! He stated his opinion from three angles: the story line, comparison of before and after the trip, and the language of the speech.

The last one is our super lady Michelle Ye. She opened her evaluation with a question “Hi handsome boy, where are you?” which made all of us happy. She spoke highly of his skills to attract the audiences and the vivid language that he used to describe his story. At last, she added her suggestion about the purpose of a speech.

In the end, Nick Gong won the 3rd placeMichelle Ye won the 2nd place Micheal Liu won the 1st place.

After the Evaluation contest we have two prepared speeches.

Speaker Jimmy Zhang & Evaluator Dudu Tang

Last time Jimmy told us about his coworkers and this time he told us about his big big family.

He mentioned his parents, his three older brothers and one sister. He lived a hard life in his childhood. His siblings always fight with each other, but since he was the youngest in his family, he got all most of the love and care. What’s more, Jimmy told us he would become a grandpa next month, congratulations! Talking about family made our especial Dudu Tang think about her own families.

Speaker Yankee Lv& Evaluator Eric Liang

The next one Yankee Lv, who has disappeared for a long time, and he brought us the topic of “Eager to succeed”

He introduced to us his own experience of realising the importance of health. Firstly he was eager to succeed and he decided to won the master degree. However, after experiencing a kidney stone, he finally realise the true importance in life. Like Eric said, Yankee’s speech and language is extremely vivid and expressive, we can even feel the strong desire to succeed and the pain when he was getting through the illness.

From every contest we can learn a lot. From every meeting we can gain happiness. Come and have fun together! You will meet a group of interesting guys!
