The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:

Louis firstly told us the story about his height. He tried everything he could do to grow tall but failed because of his gene which could not be changed.

His friend sold his house in ShenZhen ten years ago in order to raise fund to start his own business. After ten years’ struggling, the money he earned can only buy him house with exactly the same size as the one he sold ten years ago.

He vividly described the housing price by comparing it with Ipad. The price of one square meter of house equals to the price of 25 Ipads.

The National Day holiday is right at the corner, and many people are planning their holiday trips.

‘First and foremost, they must buy tickets! And in China’s competitive market condition, they have act proactively.’

Our president Carol Ban opened today’s meeting by associating the most timely scenario and the word of the day ‘proactive’.

The 1st speech: Friendship

Elly carefully prepared a PPT to illustrate her theme today. Firstly she asked us our intention of being a Toast Master. ‘Do you wish to practice your English or improve your leadership, or both?’

Then she talked about her own story. She wanted both, and unexpectedly, she also made a lot of friends in the club. Elly used to be a very shy girl, but shortly after joining SZTM, thanks to Cherry’s invitation, she became an assistant in the VPE team.

Therefore she had more opportunities to communicate with other members. She is very glad to have known so many friends in TM and gained so much happiness with the big family. Perhaps, if she could show us more passion and energy while explaining the PPT, her speech will better resonate with our feelings.

This was really a touching and encouraging speech. Louis firstly told us the story about his height. He tried everything he could do to grow tall but failed because of his gene which could not be changed.

And then Louis shared with us his friend’s true story. His friend sold his house in ShenZhen ten years ago in order to raise fund to start his own business. After ten years’ struggling, the money he earned can only buy him house with exactly the same size as the one he sold ten years ago.

So what’s the meaning of the young man’s ten years’ struggle? And what’s the meaning of ‘struggle’? Our life is a journey, we have to struggle to fulfill our ambitions. We should learn to enjoy the process of struggling which is much more important than money or house.

As Koby commented ‘Sometimes we try, we try hard to achieve the goal, but we miss the goal，however at the same time we gain something. That’s life. No one understands what the universe is, what life really means.’

The 3rd Speech: Plan B

We all known about the rocketing housing price in ShenZhen. We non-native could feel the high pressure if we want to settle down here. Today Michael Liu provided us ‘Plan B’ in terms of high housing price.

He vividly described the housing price by comparing it with Ipad. The price of one square meter of house equals to the price of 25 Ipads. This metaphor was very real and proper.

It was really challenging to live in Shenzhen. Then here comes plan B for Michael, he could buy a house in his hometown and work in Shenzhen, which would be much more affordable. But thinking of the starting point to be here, he concluded that ’We need to focus on our initial start and always put plan A at the top priority’.

Also we had table topic and moment of truth today. Interestingly Jimmy Zhang & Ringo both brought gifts for participants today.

Everyone loved these sections very much, dear guests and members all scrambled for opportunities to share us their opinions and feelings.
