Theme: Appearance

Prepared Speech1Yuki Qiu-CC1-Nervous

As a newcomer in toastmaster, it’s common to have nervousness. As a human being, being nervous is one way to show care. What Yuki cares about and why she is/was nervous?

2Amanda Xiong-CC2-My travel

Do you like travelling? I think most of us will answer"Yes". Last time, Amanda talked about her tavel experiences. What she is going to share with us this time?

3Michael Chen–CC2–Building

In ancient times, humans built buildings to protect themselves from the winds and rains. But nowaday, building means more than a shelter, sometime it stands for a feeling. What does the"building" means to Michael?4Vivi Xie–CC3–What are we striving for?

Sometimes I would ask myself “What are we striving for?” when I was confused. It’s common to have confusion in our life so that we can think more and grow fast. What are we striving for? What are Vivi striving for?5David Xing–CC6–Do you really know poker?

No, I don’t know what poker really is. I can play some kinds of poker, but I have no idea about the history or anything else about it. I believe our knowledgable David will share something with us. Don’t miss it.

Wow, what an impressive toastmaster meeting again! The 524th meeting was another impressive evening! Eighteen members and sixteen guests were present on 25th Oct. Among the guests, there were two foreign friends: one came from America, the other from Russia. At the beginning, our super individual evaluator, Koby Sa, passionately warmed up the atmosphere through impromptu talking about investment and speculation. Table Topic: Appearance

The table topic session was as exciting and creative as usual. Our table topic master,Crystal Chan, successfully triggered a furious debate on APPEARANCE. Is the appearance important or unimportant?

It is a question. Eight speakers from two groups at random expressed their impromptu opinions one by one. One of them, the guest from Russia, debated about transparency. Hahaha. Our international guest’s face became red because of the misunderstanding. Anyway, Crystal chose a good table topic. Well done!

Prepare SpeechNervous-Yuki Qiu

As a novice speaker,Yuki Qiu made her ice-breaking speech entitled Nervous. Candy Lei comically encouraged the icebreaker.“Don’t be nervous!”. A person facing public will be nervous because of poor nutrition, inheritance or nervousness. Being nervous is common not only to a fresh speaker but to a veteran speaker as well. Oh, fellow members and guests, in SZTM, don’t be shy, just try! Travel-Amanda Xiong

Our smiling girl,Amanda Xiong, delivered her CC3. She shared with us her interesting travelling experience to Tibet. The Potala Palace, the Everest, the deep-blue sky, the strong yaks, the fresh air, the kind and friendly aboriginals, all of them seemed impressive and fantabulous. What are you striving for?-Vivi Xie

Miss Vivi Xie didn’t prepare any draft before her speech in advance and as usual she used a simple mind map to organize her thoughts. Sometimes we would ask ourselves,“What are you striving for”. To the majority of us, it is always a tough question. Maybe Vivi is an exception. In the end, she obtained two awards, the best prepared table topic speaker and the best prepared speaker. OMG! SZTM club’s another goddess is coming! Congratulations! Do you really know poker?-David Xing

We often play poker games, but do we really know them? Maybe we usually take them for granted.David Xing gave us different explanations and implication about a deck of playing cards. Such a pack of poker is closely in association with calendar, astronomy, divination, constellations, and famous historical figures. So that is what poker is! Got it for the first time! Sincerely appreciate hard work from all the meeting participants.
