speech marathon
This was the club's second meeting of the week, run as a speech marathon with no table topics. Sean Gao and Sharon Wu each gave their CC1, Vivi Xie spoke on pronunciation for her CC5, and Danielle Ouyang led a workshop on wine tasting. The review also noted that a member named Candy would soon leave for a year in the Netherlands for her career.

The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:

We had the second meeting this week on Thursday night. Thetheme of the meeting was a speech marathon so we did not have a table topic butjumped to the speech session directly.
Speech Marathron

Sean Gao, a handsome man, did his first speech project CC1. He illustrated that he did not manage to be a talking machine but he was bornto it. He shows a talent for speech and communication.

Sharon Wu did her CC1 with the title “encouragement makeseverything different”. She said she was not nervous on the stage because shehad our sincere encouragement. She gave us a lot of examples and words on howto give encouragement and strongly recommended us to seek for encouragementwhen we need.

Michael Chen discussed and analyzed the addiction nowadaysthat people have to their cell phones and all other apps and SNS of them.

Selina Yuan did her CC2 continuing the topic of the New Yearresolution. It was a practical and useful experience sharing that I have toadmit.
Vivi Xie did her CC5 about pronunciation. She emphasized that articulation, intonation and stress are the key aspects of pronunciation and she also used the white board and her personal experience to demonstrate the points.

Danieele Ouyang gave us a workshop on how to taste the wine. She shared us with some premium red wine from France. It tasted really nice andwe learned the basic skills on the manners of red wine drinking.

Apart from wanderful speeches, Candy Yang, Nina, Eric Liu, Rex and
Eric Liang gave their comments on the speakers’ performance. I believe we all have learn the importance of mentoring and guiding from their praises and suggestions.

You know sometimes we have to be saperated for a while to have ourselives better and meet again. Our star Candy will leave us one year to Holland for her career. We wish her all the best and look forward to her back.
