583rd Meeting
SZTM's 583rd meeting on 8 August 2017 featured a workshop from District Director Matt Steele on growing to one's full potential in Toastmasters, delivered after he traveled from Hong Kong following a full day of work. Selina Yuan hosted table topics with a storytelling game built from randomly drawn characters, objects and settings, and new members Zoe Zhang and Nathan Zhang gave their ice breaker speeches.

The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:
New York is 3 hours ahead of California, but it does not make California slow. Obama retires at 55, but Trump starts at 70. Life is about waiting for the right moment to act. So, RELAX. You’re not LATE. You’re not EARLY. You are very much ON TIME.
Thank Matt for his traveling a long time from HK to SZ after one day’s work, we appreciate what he did for SZTM!
As a human being, we can’t choose our parents, we can’t choose our siblings, we can’t choose a rich or poor family, but we can decide our happiness with our family.

583th Meeting Review
It seems that every Toastmasters member believes her or she belongs to the BEST Toastmasters International club in the world. As one of members in SZTM, I’m proud and delighted to be one of them.
On 8th Aug evening, as usual, a group of people with passion and love gathered together, we listened, we spoke, we learned, and we had a wonderful night.
As a Toastmaster, Sandy Zhang is very proactive and energetic to take the role of TME. She prepared and performed very well on meeting transition and role introduction. I admired her way to introduce Table Topic Master (TTM) Selina’s way, “When you look at her eyes, you can feel that everything is well controlled by her”.

Table Topic
What I mentioned above that, Selina was the table topic master for this meeting. She is an elegant lady who is full of connotation. So the topic she brought to us is very productive: How to tell a story? She started her topic by offering different characters, objects and sites. It’s a quite creative way to choose three “notes” randomly and elaborate a mysterious story.

With their fascinating stories, around 7 speakers were involved in this section –Leah, Brother Eric, Kevin, Vivi, Lex, Lu and Matt. Undoubtedly, our “The Best Topic Speaker” went to Mr Best in the Club. Congratulations to Brother Eric!

Workshop
If you asked me, what’s the main course for this meeting? Besides table topic, we had a vital workshop delivered by District Director Matt Steele. The theme of this workshop is ‘Grow to Your Full Potential at Toastmasters’. With this effective workshop, I’m pretty sure that most of members and guests have been cultivated a deeper impression on Toastmasters International club. Thank Matt for his traveling a long time from HK to SZ after one day’s work, we appreciate what he did for SZTM!

Prepared Speech
Coming next, I’m going to bring you to review the UNIQUE section of Toastmasters which is prepared speech section. Coincidently, we had two ICE BREAKER speakers – Zoe Zhang and Nathan Zhang. It’s a fancy moment to start their Toastmasters journey after tonight.

Zoe is an adorable lady to share us with her love-and-hatred Teochew family life. As a human being, we can’t choose our parents, we can’t choose our siblings, we can’t choose a rich or poor family, but we can decide our happiness with our family. To share good things together and to solve problems together, that’s how Zoe’s speech struck and moved me.

Being a novice but an old driver and a big brother in the club, Nathan will never disappoint us, no matter when to take any meeting role and how to make any table topic speech. In his speech of ‘Never Too Late’, from my point of view, this speech is like an alarm to warn us to cherish our life every day. Hereby I grasped some shinning parts, let’s learn and take a deep thinking about these sentences:
“New York is 3 hours ahead of California, but it does not make California slow.
Obama retires at 55, but Trump starts at 70.
Life is about waiting for the right moment to act.
So, RELAX. You’re not LATE. You’re not EARLY. You are very much ON TIME.
Dedicated to be yourself, it is never too late.”
Guest Sharing

Welcome beautiful people! Hope to see you next time.
Evaluation
After speeches had been delivered, we had respective evaluators – Tiffany Xiao, Vivi Xie and Michael Liu to give their individual evaluations

What’s more, our dedicated facilitators completed their reports after whole night’s observations. Thanks a lot for their efforts! All of them are amazing!
Our next meetings is this Thursday (Table Topic: The Most), no matter where you are, no matter how you are, if you want to be more excellent, please try to join us.
