591st Meeting

The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:

Thanks our generous members Wilson Liao, Carol Ban and Sunny Wang who brought some mooncakes and fruits that we could celebrate the Mid-Autumn Day together in advance.

Sep 25th

As the ex-VPM, our Michelle Yang was so considerate to host a warm-up game that can improve the teamwork between our members and guests. 5 members and 1 guest joined the game. Koby Sa, Martin Zhan and Eric Liu were in the first group, while Danielle Ouyang, Sharon Wu and our guest Mark were in the second group. Michelle Yang gave a note to each group, the first one read the note and whispered the sentence to the second member, and the second member also whispered it to the last member, the last one need to write down the sentence they got on the whiteboard.

Michelle prepared three meaningful sentences: 1) Leadership is an action, not a position.

2) That which does not kill you makes you stronger.

3) If you want to go fast, go alone; If you want to go far, go together.

But as time was limited, only two sentences can be finished in the game. Guess which group was the winner? The second group won the game, the first group did not figure out the rules at the beginning, so they were a little bit slow than the second group. The warm-up game was a little bit silent as the participants need to repeat the sentences to their team member in whisper. It tested not only our teamwork, but also our memory.

Table Topic

Comes to Table topic session, our innovative member Wilson Li, led us to a special meeting- SZTM Product Launch. He not only prepared 10 different topics with detailed specification in the slide, but also brought the related products (electronic mosquito killer, Facial Mask, U-shape Pillow, Selfie Stick, Optical wireless mouse, Hair Drier, Power Bank, etc.) to our meeting. What a smart and diligent TTM! He presented his IPhone 4S as the demo. Danielle Ouyang, Selina Yuan, Sharon Wu, Eric Liu, Koby Sa, our guest Jack, and Eva Chen passionately volunteered to be the sales. They presented the product in the unique way, made our meeting room full of laughter. I found that we have a lot of potential good sales. Prepared Speech

After hearing the 4 prepared speeches at this meeting, I would like to call it ‘Chicken Soup Night’. We were injected with a lot of chicken blood by 4 high level speakers. Lila Liang, our chicken blood sister, used some famous successful people’s stories, like Nick Vujicic, to elicit her original dream, encouraged us never give up. Candy Yang, our I3 area director, introduced two friends to us, Miss So-so and Miss Serious. Miss So-so used to be her best friend. But influenced by some excellent people from work and Toastmasters, now she decided to break up with her, and make friend with Miss Serious. Attitude decides your altitude. So, who do you want to make friend with, Miss So-so or Miss Serious? Danielle Ouyang, our loyal member, was very smart to use her speech ‘To be or not to be’ to persuade the members to renew the membership in SZTM. Eva Chen, our president, used a camel story to teach us how to be optimistic - Set goals you can achieve; Expect things to change; Don’t blame yourself; Accept help and advice; Accept imperfection.

Evaluation

As their individual evaluators respectively, Michael Liu, Eric Liu, Koby Sa and Carol Ban delivered their appropriate and remarkable evaluations. Sandy Zhang, our elegant member, delivered the table topic evaluation. Selina Yuan, our Goddess, delivered the general evaluation. Those who can be evaluated were so lucky, as all the suggestions were in place. Carol Ban, the ex-ex-president, was so nice to help our president to make the opening remarks. Current president Eva Chen presented the best certificate and gave the closing remarks. Wilson Li won the best facilitator reward; Sharon Wu won the best table topic speaker reward; Danielle Ouyang won the best prepared speech reward, and Selina Yuan won the best evaluator reward.

5 guests joined our meeting, Apple, Terry, Ashley, Mark, Jack and one of them would like to join us, what a piece of good news!

Acknowlegment

In the end sincerely appreciate Elly Zheng (SAA), Wilson Liao(TME), Louis Liu(Timer), Jane Yang(Ah-counter), Allen Peng(Grammarian), Sunny Wang (GST) and Martin Zhan(MOT), the mentioned and not mentioned. Without their hard work, an interesting and amazing meeting would be impossible and unimaginable.
