609th Meeting
This belated review, posted 1 March 2018, covers SZTM's last meeting before Chinese New Year, when president Nathan Zhang invited the professional improv group Heiyo Improv, led by Alice and Chris, to run the whole session. Games included Voice Ball, a walking-speed exercise, Emotion Zone, and an improvised speaking exercise called You Are the Boss.

The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:
The craziest game was Emotion Zone, with Christoph’s rules, we showed our happiness, our sadness; the difficult part was to combine two emotions together; like happiness and sad, angry and happy.
we walked naturally, slowly, as faster as we can; then we all stopped when Chris said stop. Then turned to walk like a Robert, then ran like Forrest Gump, like him ran for no reason.
This is the belated review of the last meeting before the Lunar New Year! Our president-Nathan Zhang, had invited a professional improv organization - “Heiyo Improv” to play Improv with us ❤
Want to know more about how to improv? Just follow me! 😀
In order to make all the people enjoy this non-routine meeting, Nathan’s opening remarks introduced SZTM is a place where to shape our communication and leadership skills, and tonight was a special time for SZTM to have fun with Heiyo Improv.

Then Tonight‘s stars showed up, they were Alice and Chris.👏
Unquestionably, first part was self-introduction. We all followed Chris’s hinting to make a big circle and introduced our name with a word to express our personalities. Like I am Lily, I am shame; I am Lucy, I am brave…… In this part, we knew more about each other.

Warm up
This part included four games: Voice Ball games, Speed game, Emotion Zone and You are the boss.
For the Voice Ball games, we still kept the circle. The first people made any sound to anyone else, and the people who received the sound, he/she should passed another different sound to next one. For example, I made a kiss sound for Andy, she received it, then transferred a dog’s sound to David…

As for the Speed game, we needed to follow Chris’s sounds to change our walking speed. According to Chris’s guide, we walked naturally, slowly, as faster as we can; then we all stopped when Chris said stop. Then turned to walk like a Robert, then ran like Forrest Gump, like him ran for no reason. It seemed like a crazy group, and we all didn’t know what we were doing, but we all got much fun. I think this is the meaning of improv, just like life, you never know next chocolate you will taste.

The craziest game was Emotion Zone, with Christoph’s rules, we showed our happiness, our sadness; the difficult part was to combine two emotions together; like happiness and sad, angry and happy. I heard that most of fellows said that was so crazy and unforgettable.

“You are the boss” was the time for impromptu speaking, is what someone relish while others dread. 6 persons into a group on the stage, as the first speaker started, anyone can interrupted others’ speech with his/her speaking.
This game was not only exam your English speech, but also checked your thinking logic.

There were two fun games following. First game was “Don’t think twice-I am a tree”.
There were six teams in this game. Every team has 3 persons, the first team needed to pretend as a model.
Then second team in the middle followed the third team’s hinting to act the first team’s posts.
Finally, we could see the second team and third team’s post whether they match or not.
In this game, you could see so many interesting and funny posts.

Last game was “Challenging multitasking-what are you doing”.
When partner asked what you were doing, you could say “I am writing”. Then she needed to play a role in writing.
Then turn to you asked her what are you doing, if she said I am playing piano, you had to play a role in playing piano. Then repeated it again and again. What a challenging game!

For the moment of truth, I really wanted to thank “Heiyo Improv” for their show, thank you for giving us such an impressive and enjoyable experience ♥

May this belated review can remind your memory of that night and come to join us as much as you can.
Best wishes for this New Year! Love you ♥ SZTM
