Diversity
A review of SZTM's 617th meeting, the club's first attempt at a partly bilingual session. President Nathan Zhang explained the decision to hold one meeting a month partly in Chinese, and Table Topics, hosted by Nathan on the theme of diversity, ran in Chinese for the first time, using key words drawn from Beijing opera and crosstalk. Three prepared speeches followed: Roy Fu on knowing your true self, David King on how a city's layout shapes civilization, and Adrian Wong on love.

The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:
To be honest, his mandarin is a little bit better than English😄
Andrain talked about his five girls that he still thinks about to this day.

好雨知时节,当春乃发生。
随风潜入夜,润物细无声。
Wait a second! Something is going wrong? Why I hear the Chinese poem in an English meeting.
Please allow Nathan Zhang, the president of SZTM shares the detail with you.

In order to share the value of Toastmasters to the members, not only for Chinese, but also for foreigner.
SZTM, the first TMC in the Shenzhen, make an important decision. We would like to try to change one meeting in Chinese per month.
As the first demo meeting, tonight will be bilingual.
Wow, what a miraculous opening remark and bold attempt! Let’s see what will keep surprising us next.

After introduced by President, our gentle and charming toastmaster of this evening - Eric Liu hosted the meeting. He is a good story teller, his vivid speaking and emotional sharing can always touch your heart.
Today, he uses this magnetic voice again to induce, (。・_・。)ノ sorry~ introduce the facilitators’ team:

General evaluator – Sunny Wang, Timer – Michael Liu, Ah counter – Zoe Zhang, Grammarian – Candy Yang.
They are the diligent and responsible people who help every speaker to follow the toastmasters’ guidance improving themselves during the meeting.
Candy shared the word of the day, ‘Miraculous’ which was emphasized to be used as often as possible for every speaker.
Table topic
First time Shenzhen Toastmasters did their Table Topic session in Chinese.
It’s a miraculous change given the unexpected change in Shenzhen Toastmasters over the past year. But we are here to change and grow a new community.
Stay tuned for more!

As the first trying, Nathan handled this session in Chinese (TTM – Table Topic Master). To be honest, his mandarin is a little bit better than English😄
First, he told all the audience what is the rule of this session in detail, then he provided an easy way for the people who wanna try – Presentation and Questions to lead the speakers share their story spontaneously.

The theme of today is ‘Diversity’, and Nathan expressed it in a special way.
He chose 8 key words from Beijing opera and Crosstalk which were ‘生,旦,净,末’ and ‘说,学,逗,唱’. Every speaker needed to remove one sticker randomly to see his/her key word.
I really hope you can be there at that night, it was miraculous and please refer to the photos.(The truth is, it is extremely hard to translate all the Chinese poems and proverbs in English (┬_┬)
