638th Meeting

The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:

TTE: Nathan Zhang, we called his nickname big-wet-nurse-nan-Nathan. His always so gentle style, caring table topic master and every table topic speaker’s detail.

Zoe gave us her smile, her body language, her facial expressions and her eye contact to express her message, besides her more and more fluid speaking English.

Began with the very funny and creative warm up game. The atmosphere had been ignited to so high within such limited few minutes. Thanks president Sunny for preparing such a wonderful warm up game.

[SAA & President opening remark]

Besides with the president opening remark. David King, our SAA tonight, he showed those basic rules to all our participants to the meeting tonight.

TME was the key person to keep the whole meeting’s atmosphere in a high level, by transiting the previous to the next. Adrian Wong, who’s the CBC-Canadian Born Chinese, his native English tongue did help lot, moreover, his humorous relaxing style made us feel like we were having a Canadian Toastmaster meeting.

[GE and his facilitators Team]

Eduard replaced Strong, to be our General Evaluator tonight. This was his first time to be a GE, applaud to Eduard. Eduard as a team leader, he introduced tonight’s facilitators team, timer: Max Ye, ah-counter: Doris Luo, and grammarian: Vivian Liu. They all gave us a very brief and clear facilitators’ report.

[Table Topic Session]

Our new member Jessica Wu to be our table topic master tonight. This was her first time to be a table topic master, hosting a very good table topic. Applaud to Jessica.

1st Speaker: Joan Zhang, , she introduced her lovely grandma to us all. She used what a vivid nick name as “Double gun grannie”, so impressive.

If the table topic speech is to test your impromptu ability, then the prepared speech must be the test of all the capabilities that you have.

Tonight had special agenda. So we had only one prepared speaker. Applaud Zoe Zhang to deliver her CC5 .

I thought this was one of the best CC5 speech I had ever seen. Zoe gave us her smile, her body language, her facial expressions and her eye contact to express her message, besides her more and more fluid speaking English.

[Workshop]

Let’s welcome our big boss Carol Ban to deliver her long-awaited workshop. .

We don’t need to say more that big boss Carol Ban, who was always our best / champion speech speaker. Her well prepared workshop, described from her career vision, to extend to toastmaster’s vision. We all knew that, in the fast changing future, whoever could be the leader, the far-open-field of vision would be very critical. A good leader could not only had a far and open vision, but also share her vision to all her buddies, leading us to a better and better future.

Such a good injection shot of chicken blood.

[Guest Sharing Time]

Our busy GE Eduard was also hosting guest sharing time session. His warm and lovely smile made more guests come to join us. Good Job Eduard.

[Evaluation Session]

TTE: Nathan Zhang, we called his nickname big-wet-nurse-nan-Nathan. His always so gentle style, caring table topic master and every table topic speaker’s detail. He picked up those shining points and gave a good suggestion.

IE: Jack Liu, who’s member from CBD club. He replaced April to be the IE for Zoe’s speech. What a wonderful and professional evaluation. He listened very careful and caught all those shining points as well as those points worth being paid attentions. He also gave very helpful suggestions.

GE: After all the facilitators’ report. Eduard gave his very good General evaluation tonight. I could not believe that this was his first time to do as a GE. He was so confident and his English was so fluid. He gave a fully covered evaluation to the whole meeting. And yes, he can be better and better and better in the future.

This was once again what a wonderful SZTM evening. It seemed that, Carol Ban’s speech had injected a whole tube of chicken blood into me, I could not stop the excitement. And yes, we all need a vision, just like, we all need hope.
