689th Meeting
A review of the 689th meeting, where table topics on summer holiday memories, hosted by Nathan, drew responses from Lizhen, Jane, Andrew, Sunny Wang Lian, Joan and Echo. Prepared speeches covered leadership from Ariel, sunk cost and opportunity cost from Orfila, and procrastination from Fish, with TTE Adrian focusing his evaluation on audience engagement. The post closes by promoting a new member training session that Saturday.
Guests included Echo, president of Tree Toastmasters Club, and Andrew from Spring City Toastmasters Club.

Ariel– A journey ofleadership
We always think that aleader is the person who walks in the front to lead a team, a department or acompany. That’s true, but not the whole thing. Before leading a team, we shouldbe a leader within. We can also be a beside leader, behind leader, or fieldleader. Staying at different position, they are equally important.
谁说领导就是站在前面的人，从旁者、后立者、隐形者都可以是领导。先成为内领导，你一定可以引领自己，带领他人。
Orfila– Using economictheories to solve problems in life
A sunk cost is acost that an entity has incurred, and which it can no longer recover by anymeans. If you have entered into the theatre but find out that the movie is notattractive to you at all and you cannot get a ticket refund. Will you choose tostay there or leave?
Opportunity cost is defined asthe cost of choosing a good or service measured in terms of the next bestalternative given up. For example, the opportunity cost in going to the moviescould be buying takeaways, as long as that is the next best use of the moneyused to buy the movie ticket.
买了电影票，走进影厅却发现这部电影真是没意思，可钱也退不回来了，那你就继续浪费时间观看呢，还是立马走人？志玲姐姐教你如何用经济学理论解决诸如此类的日常生活问题，你敢说不 cool?
Fish–procrastinate
I wander if I’m the onlyprocrastinator. So I ask friends around me. Some of them areengineers, teachers, lawyers and lots of PHD students. And they gave me the sameanswer.“I have this problem, too.”
Anyway, life isshort. Actually I count lifespan in this calendar. Every box represents oneweek. If you can live 100 years. There are just 5214 boxes. And I’m here. I have alreadyused 25 percent of it. And where are you now?
You see we have so manyimportant things to do. But our time is so limited. If you overuse just a little, the timer will ring the bell. So we’d be better to start today. Well. Maybe nottoday！

TTE Adrian 将此次点评重点放在 audience engagement，教大家如何跟观众产生连接。
ü Nathan 大奶妈幽默风趣，一句 I am the second best daddy 既赞扬了大表哥，又让听众欢笑不断。
ü 大表哥不愧是 the best daddy，一个暑假故事将自己与女儿连接起来。
ü Jane 通过分享暑期故事，传递了对孩子的关爱。“What did you dotwo weeks ago?”加上这句能让听众回顾自己的经历，从而更好地产生连接。
ü Andrew is aquick thinker. 是遇到了什么事才会觉得暑假 disappointing？Andrew 机智妙语，讲述了自己如何通过学习英语打开一扇连接世界的窗。
ü “What does itmean if you were a teacher?”开篇发问能引人思考，无形之中产生连接。Sunny Wang Lian 分享作为老师的暑假是如何度过的。
ü Joan 上台就说“My dad is thebest dad”, 拆了大表哥的台，却也让人无法反驳。 Adrian 再次传授灵魂拷问，“What was your most exciting vacation?”又是一次与观众连接的机会。
ü Echo 虽未曾真正与父母一起旅行，但是分享了各种经历，并希望与父母一起。“Did you evertravel with your friends?”这一看就是 Adrian 大大秘籍中的一句。
如何通过发问与观众产生连接，你 get 到了吗？
IE Lizhen 说 Ariel 的演讲逻辑清晰，结尾鼓舞人心，展示了学识。（嗯，说的就是小编本人。开心到飞起，哈哈哈哈啊哈哈~~）当然，肢体语言丰富一点，内容再拓展一些，就更好啦！（Yes, sir!）
IE Sunny Wang Fang 给志玲姐姐 Orfila 颁发了“三好”证书，姿态好、结构好、内容好。如果能够控制时间，来个终极总结，简直就是完美！
IE Echo 高度赞扬 Fish 大厨的主题和演技（真不是盖的，奥斯卡奖就颁给你啦！），同时提出建议，鼓励大厨做舞台的王者，说开始就开始，哪里还需要问“Can I getstarted? ”哦对了，观众在前面，不要低头看哈！
GE 大 boss 这次大发慈悲，基本上把大家都表扬了一遍。TME 开篇介绍头马的内容很棒；此次 SAA 由 amazing Jane 担任，提前布置好会场；Fish 临时代替 timer Wind；Vivian 和 Chunyan 作为 grammarian，提供了精彩报告和 cool 词；Ah-counterLouis 教授精确统计，分别给予了表扬和提醒；Adrain 的点评总是充满智慧，但是要“丢掉”电脑哦！各位 IE 的点评也是非常到位，既点出闪光点，也提出提升建议，十分受益。
