Meeting #714
SZTM's 714th meeting on February 23, 2020 was the club's fourth online session during the coronavirus outbreak, drawing more than 30 members and five guests. Ah-Counter Lizhen, still stuck in Hubei province, took his role anyway, and four prepared speeches covered a pilot's view on heroism, president Zoe's CC-10 reflection on stepping into leadership, a first-time guest's bungee-jumping story, and Fish's account of how giving up complaining changed his life. Timer Chrissy, who tracked speaking times on both her phone and computer, won best facilitator.
The club posted its own write-up that week. Some of what it said, in the words it used:

The 714th meeting of SZTM started on time as the regular meeting time at Tuesday night 19:15 PM. More than 30 members and 5 guests attended the 4th online meeting of SZTM club at the period of novel corona-virus outbreak.
Facilitators Introduction
SAA Louis made very clear and detailed PPT to show meeting procedures and brief introduction on line.
TME Eric, second time to host the whole online meeting. He is always smiling and he won the best camera gentlemen and best master award in the meeting.
Timer Chrissy, very professional online meeting timer. She used both her computer and phone to make great preparation. She showed very beautiful green/yellow/red cards and played background music as bell to remind speaker. In report section, she showed very clear time records in the chatting room and won the best facilitator in the meeting.

Grammarian Alice, she looked like a very professional network host with the earphone on her head. She introduced the word “MUTUAL”, picked out the grammatical mistakes and reported the golden sentences.
GE Sunny Wang Lian, she is so good at self-mockery, she said, “since I joined in TM, I am always the Ah-queen of the meeting”

TTM Lilian made good connection between the theme “CONNECTION” and the impromptu speakers
Impromptu speaker Fish, about the given key word CHALLENGE, he told us the big challenge during the working time right now is that he didn’t take his computer home and he have to borrow one from his relatives.
Impromptu speaker Andy, about the given key word COUSINS, he said he didn’t go out to meet his cousins during the Spring Festival and stayed at home to make contribution to our country.
Impromptu spear Lizhen, about the given key word STRANGERS, he told us he could judge the eye of a stranger kind or unkind to see if he is a friend who worthy making with.
Impromptu spear April, about the given key word EVERYTHING, she said she often watched TV and attended the online meetings of TM. She hoped the corona-virus will stopped soon and she was eager to go out.
TTE Wendy made very detailed evaluations
For TTM Lilian: the topic is good; the smile made us feel comfortable; she said “back to TME when finish “; all in all you did a very excellent job.
For Fish: you talked in details, logic is very good. suggestion: open the camera.
For Andy: English is good. I like your style.
For Lizhen: Voice is clear, you are clam, it will be better if you can make a story about how to make friends with strangers.
For April: Very positive; fluent English; eye contest; wonderful speech.
All in all, you did very good job because you don’t have time to prepare for it.
Prepared Speech & Evaluation
Speaker Andy from EOE club, he is a pilot and he showed us some facts of the pilot heroes: We would rather to be nobody than a hero and fly every air smoothly. Andy speech title is TBD, at the end of his speech, he showed us blank white paper and explain why he made this title.
Speaker Zoe was doing her CC 10 speech TAKE ONE STEP, THEN ANOTHER. Being back to work right now made her think deeply about the days of staying at home when there was no supervision for her job. She then recalled her journey of being president and inspired us that we be confident and diligent to achieve our goals step by step.
Speaker Time was the first time joining our online meeting. He talked about his bungee jumping experience and told us two things: 1. Don’t judge a book from its color. 2. If we don’t try, we will never know the real feeling of doing one thing
Speaker Fish told us that stop COMPLAINING really changed his life. Complaining doesn’t solve any problems and solutions such as following the rules or changing the rules makes difference.
Vivian evaluated Andy’s speech: Very smart to make everyone be interested in your conclusion. Suggestion: make some pause.
Adrian evaluated Zoe’s speech: inspire us from not confident to be confident, at the end of the speech, search inner of ourselves. Suggestion: put the opening to the end; can be humorous.
Frank evaluated Time’s speech: good speech structure. suggestion: should send IE form to IE before speech; open camera so we can see your emotions and eye contest on screen; have extra time to make the speech longer.
Kai evaluated Fish’s speech: personal examples; vocal variety is good; logical content. Moreover, corona-virus broke out in Hubei and Fish told us not to complain that’s much we can learn from him.

Ah-counter Lizhen: Alice used ER 5 times, AH 10times, and 5 times; Vivian used ER 30 times, Frank ER 12 times. Kai EN 6 times.
Grammarian Alice: None of us used the word MUTUAL.
Timer Chrissy: Fish over used time in his impromptu speech and Kai in his evaluation speech.
GE Sunny Wang Lian: For SAA Louis, a little noise at the beginning of the meeting.
For president Zoe, very logical and friendly. Motivate members.
For GST Louis, do much better than the SAA part, clearly and slowly. suggestions: invite all the guest to make a brief introduction.
For TTE Wendy, we want to see your beautiful face on screen.
For IE Vivian, logic is good; suggestion: Andy wants more suggestions from you.
For IE Adrian, it is good to tell us why and how. suggestions: motivate the audience; don’t share body over screen.
For IE Kai, very logical, same suggestion as Vivian, they may want more suggestions.
