01 A touching enegetic meeting

If use one word to describe SZTM’s 740th meeting, I would say it was a “touching”meeting.

The whole meeting was enegetic. We had enegetic TME Sunny Wang Lian, she weared beautiful clothes, which made the meeting colorful and dynamic. And during the hosting process, her smile was amazing, relaxing the meeting atmosphere.

Grammarian: Joan Zhang
Ah-counter: Li zhen
Hark Master: Megan Luo

In order to make sure we have a high-level meeting and contol the time well, we had four facilitators, Tmer-Jane Liang, Ah-counter Lizhen and Grammarian Joan, Harkmaster Megan Luo, they helped us to contol time, reduce our unnecessary words, correct grammar usages and recall the details. They are special roles and unreplacable. Thanks to their hard work.

Prepared SpeechesRee: My mentor

she recalled her first meeting with SZTM, she was attracted by a smart and stable girl, who was her mentor late-Jane. After joining SZTM club, she had more mentors, they are her contest mentors, officer mentors, she learned a lot from her mentors and appreciated SZTM provide a platform to learn from each other and become better. We can witness her progress and changes in SZTM, she become more stable and more confident, and more natural at the stage.

Frank Zhou: Mr always Best

Frank also talked about his mentor—Eric Liu. He was attracted by Eric-“Mr always best”. he joined SZTM and choose Eric as his mentor, Eric sets a model for him. He got feed back from Eric, and also want to be a top speaker. He told us a mentor is a good friend, a good coach, to win a best is a attitude, we should try hard and to be best.

David Lin: Breaking the mental barrier

What prevent us from full potential? It is mental barrier, it is intangible. Brain guides our body and potential, and we can take advantage of it, use your mind to imagine things, then your body will follow, your mental barrier is your restriction, break it, then you will reach your full potential. David’s speech was inspired, we can practise after the meeting to achieve our full potential.

Jeff Wu: My first path

Jeff recalled his speech pathway, he finished 50 speeches and 12 workshop in less than one year, the way was exhausting, excing, but fruitful, his example told us if we have clear goals, live everyday as the last day of life, cherish time, nothing is impossilbe.

For the prepared speakers, Louis, Vivian Pan, Eric, Alex gave them feedback individully. From the objectives, to the structures, the contents, shining points to the improving sides, they gave detailed evaluations to the speakers, which will help them become better and better.

Table topic session

The master was Vivian Liu, she was well prepared, she used PPT to show the topics. The theme was “the flavors of life”. What are the flavors of life? It’s a deep question. Sour? Sweet? Spicy? Like a cup of water or like a cup of tea?

Jeff, Lizhen, Alex, Eric, Sherry, Lena and Louis delivered their impromptu speeches in 2 minutes, they used their own stories, and gave their opinions about the flavors of life. They showed excellent speech skills and powerful imagination, after fierce competition, Eric Liu won the best table topic speaker. Eric’s speech was about spicy taste, although he dislike spicy food, but he cherished the reunion moment with his father, spicy food was a momeroy of his father, he told the story of his father, it was so touching, and we can imagine the warm moments of his family.

Birthday celebration part

Vivian Pan made a vivid, dynamic and humorous vedio, she collected every one’s picture and put them into the vedio, make it like a movie, it was really impressive and memorable, we could see vivian put her heart into this vedio and gave us a big surpise. Appreciate her well preparation and serious work. And during the break time, we also had cakes and fruits to share, members and guests communicated with each other, learn more about toastermater.

Guest share time

The were many guests joning us, they introduced each other and told us how they know Toastermasters, and some show their willings to join us, most of them had fluent English and want to practise more, TM is a good platform, welcome everyone to come again.

Fish gave the general evaluation to the meeting, he evaluated the facilitators and evaluators, he used encourable and enegetic to summarize the whole meeting, every role were serious, and they contributed a fantastic meeting together.

At the end, we voted the best roles. The best speaker David, the best table topic speaker and best evaluator Eric, the best master Vivian Liu, the best facilitator Joan. Congratulations to all of you, proud of you!

If a couple of kids compete with adults at the same stage，who would win? We will tell you the result late, at SZTM’s 740th meeting, we witnessed this incredible situation, and we saw the power of back waves. Two new members started their icebreaker and they are also the new waves of SZTM.

Zoe Zhang, a smart and talented gil, she served as host of the meeting, she appeared like a blow of cool wind, wearing a green skirt, and her hosting style was also perfect. Before the meeting, she asked the speakers’s superheroes, and introduced them with their superheroes, she was always well prepared for the meeting.

We had four important roles to guarantee the meeting quality, they controlled the meeting time, helped to elimilate the extra worlds, correct grammar mistakes, and recall the meeting. They were slim Joan, tourist Vivian, a handsome father Tao, and also handsome father David. They kept on record busily during the meeting, very grateful to their hard work.

she was the most youngest member in SZTM. Her title was””. Max introduced her to us, she had many hobbies, she like reading and studying, she reads 21 books every year, she can play guitar, and she is a positive girl and want to be successfull. To join Toastermaster at so young age, we can feel her motivation to learn and improve.

Megan: My three trips to Shenzhen

Megan told us her three times to come to Shenzhen, and also about her job, most important, she told us that she was still single and she want to find a boyfriend in SZTM, and her boyfriend should have tow conditions: positive and proactive. So handsome guys, if you are positive and proactive, join SZTM and you have the chance to know her.

Barbara(EOE): It really doen’t matter

Many of us have communication gap with parents, so did her. In the past, her father was a traditional Chinese fater, he like to teach his daughter some lessons and requre her to comply with his will. It was not a healthy communiation style, but a order stlyle. But she didn’t want to conflict with her father, she respect him. Maybe her father realized there were some problems in his communication style, he changed and started to respect his daughter’s choices one day. Everyone need reflections, when to deal with the relationship with his lovers.

April, Frank and Eric evaluated the above speakers, they confirmed the speakers’ shining points and also give constructive suggestions to them. Eric’s evaluation was special, he like to use some simple words to summarize his evaluation, which was impressive. With the feedbacks, speakers can improve more fast.

Table topic session

The host of this part was Miguel Ye. He was from spain, and his hometown is Zhejiang province, so his English had a mixed accent. He brought us the topics about superheroes.

The first speaker was Fish. He was a good story teller, he had a nickname “performance king”. His title was “ father and superman”. He recalled his father’s life, his father was a new citizen from the countryside, he transfered to the city to earn money and support the family, with no technical skills. In Fish’s heart, his father was more stonger than superman, he is his superhero. He is grateful for his father’s hard work, and his story moved not only himself, but also all the audiences, but was he the best impromptu speaker? There was suspense.

When the mater Miguel asked who want to be the second volunteer? A boy ran to the stage. My God, a eight years old boy. He said he was Enzo, and he want to share us his superhero-Milton Nershy, then he started his performance. Fluent native pronunciation, vivid emothion, suitble guesture, we were all shocked by this little boy, we couldn’t help to think was he a Amercian born Chinese? His English was better than most of our senior members, some said they didn’t dare to go to the stage after hearing his speech. We feel heavy pressure puted from this cute and smart boy. Back waves push the front waves, it is true.

Then other two kids went to the stage to give their speeches, their English were also very native and they were still very young. We were shocked again and again, not only by their fluent spoken English, but also by their courage.

And the last one was Warren, he delivered a speech about Batman, we like his words”life is what you make it, jut to be somebody, don’t be nobody.”

Louis Liu evaluated the table topic speech part. He compared the two teams, adult team and kids team, during this party, we had a fierce competition between adult team and kids team, who was the best? It is hard to say. Nowadays kids had good basis and better environment than us, so their English level maybe as good as a adult. Adult has their independent ideas, it is hard to express thoughts than tell a story, it is hard to express than to recite.

Guest sharing time

During the breaktime, the guests introduced themselves to us, and we can feel their enthusiasm to learn and to connect with others. like the little kids, they were also guests, but they grabed the chance to speak, and shocked us. Welcome all of the guests to come and join us.

Barara gave the general evaluation of the meeting, she evaluated the evaluators and facilitators accordingly and suggested SAA to give the meeting rule more clealy.

As the most exciting part, we voted the best roles, best master Zoe, best prepared speakers: Megan and Barbara, best table topic speaker: Fish, best evaluator: April, best facilitator: David, Congratulations to all of them. No surpise, the best table topic was a adult, maybe next time it will be a child, back waves exceed front waves.
