Makeup for Men?
The debate
No prepared speeches, no Table Topics. The 969th was a full debate night. Eight members squared off on one question: “Is it advocated for men to wear makeup?” Four on each side, with a Grand Fire round giving every debater two minutes, followed by three-minute closing arguments from each team’s fourth speaker. Eleven served as Debate Evaluator.
Things got heated fast. Before the meeting even started, the two sides were spotted in the pantry together: “正方和反方在友好地吃汉堡.” That friendliness did not last through the evening.
Flipping tables (almost)
The intensity surprised even the debaters themselves. Anna said afterwards: “感觉马上要掀翻桌子了.” Brent told Ivy directly: “你辩论对着我们 yelling 的时候,有一刻,我担心你会不会跳上桌子.” Stella added that all Ivy needed was a beer to actually get on the table. Someone observed that Anna’s outfit that night made her look like a courtroom lawyer, which fit the energy perfectly.
The opposing side apparently had real legal talent in their ranks. When Maecenas remarked “感觉看上去应该是有真律师在反方的,” Eleven fired back: “没事 正方有 N 个隐藏辩手 哈哈哈哈哈.”
Living the topic
The best moment may have been Emma trying to recruit an ally mid-debate: “今天我说 Edwin 表示支持下我们,给你化个口红💄,Edwin 立马弹得老远。” After the meeting, Eleven looked at the group photos and posted: “看了照片深深的觉得 今天应该要上点遮瑕再来的 哈哈话 #makeupformen.”
Jason summed up the night in five words: “Tao came. Tao win.” And then, in three: “Need more beers.”
