Prepared speeches

Stella opened the evening with “M&M,” a speech in the Presentation Mastery pathway focused on descriptive language. She had spent so much time preparing a movie-themed Table Topics session that her own speech prep got squeezed: “准备完 TT，发现没时间准备 speech 了.”

DC followed with “Three Laws that I Learned at Toastmasters,” drawing on his experience to inspire the audience through lessons the club had taught him.

Vera almost didn’t speak at all. Earlier that day she had posted in the group: “dear 们 有没有候补想要做 speaker 的呀 我的稿子还没准备好暂时不上了呢.” But a few hours later she changed her mind: “那还是晚上来一个 free speech 吧.” By the time she arrived, she was ready to jump in: “今天开始挑战自我了.” Since the venue’s big screen was occupied by another event until 7:30, speeches without slides went first, and Vera took the stage.

A night of small adventures

The venue had just changed back to the 5th floor of Zhuo Yue Building after a tied vote between two locations. The vote came out 11:11, and Stella, as President, made the call. Not everyone got the memo: Poornima showed up at the old venue first and had to rush over. Meanwhile, Vera was already scouting a third option for the future: “新会址有着落了！下一个地方有可能在国际商会大厦二楼新东方.”

Attendance was low, fewer than fifteen people. Emma printed physical movie props, including an ACTION board, to go with the theme. Jason brought fruit from Zengcheng. Sashaan, a friend of Poornima’s, volunteered as Timer on the spot. And somewhere in the chaos, Brownie forgot to take the beer home. Jason rescued it.

Looking ahead to 1000

Even on a quiet night, the milestone on the horizon was hard to ignore. “我们一步步接近 1000 了！！！想想都觉得，SZTM 太棒了.” The next morning brought one more bit of good news: Tommy joined the club. His response: “哈哈～是啊 是啊 很开心加入头马.”
