Labor Day Dinner

A different kind of meeting

The 973rd meeting fell right on the Labor Day holiday, and most members were still in vacation mode. “还在过节 都没有准备好,” someone admitted in the group chat. With only one speaker signed up, the club pivoted: instead of a standard meeting at the usual Huarong Building venue, this became a dinner gathering at 码头见, a Chaoshan restaurant in CapitaMall. Each person would give a one- to two-minute free speech before the meal.

The SZTM Family table

The dinner format brought out a different energy. As one member put it after sharing photos from past gatherings (hotpot dinners, hikes, New Year’s Eve countdowns): “That’s why call SZTM FAMILY!” The reply was swift and honest: “Eating family..”

Candy was the sole registered speaker for the evening. The final bill came to 67.2 yuan per person, with a 20-yuan club subsidy for members. Guests were welcome too.

Dessert contributions

Even members who could not make it wanted in on the fun. One sent a photo captioned “发一张长得象土豆🥔的包子凑个数,” proof that SZTM’s food culture extends well beyond the dinner table.
