Officer Election Night

Meeting 976 was not a regular meeting. It was the officer election for the term starting June 1, 2025. Candidates gave two-minute campaign speeches, members voted, and by the end of the evening SZTM had a brand new leadership team. David and Anna joined remotely due to travel and illness, casting their votes and delivering their campaign speeches via Tencent Meeting.

The VPM race turned out to be the most competitive contest of the night, with Maecenas facing strong opposition. Two roles had no candidates going in: VPPR and SAA were both unclaimed when sign-ups closed. Linna and Brent stepped up on the spot to fill those seats.

“Every Yes Was a Love Letter”

After the meeting, incoming President Brownie posted in the group chat:

今天晚上好感动。每一次 nominated candidate say yes 我都要掉眼泪了，每次大家 say yes, 后半句没说出来的是 yes, I love this club ❤️ Maecenas 遭遇最强角色竞争火力全开❤️Linna 和 Brent step in 给了我们大大的 surprise

Brent responded: “Brownie, you are the moment of my Toast Master journey.” Outgoing President Stella kept it simpler: “终于卸任！躺平！巴适。” Then added: “传承 激励 永远热泪盈眶！”

Anna, connecting remotely, confirmed her new title in the group with a laugh: “所以我是不是财务官啊？[捂脸]”

BBQ and Beyond

The meeting ran long, and the group only managed to take a photo of the new officers before everyone rushed out. No family photo this time. As one member recalled the next morning: “结束时我以为要拍集体照呢，还跑到前面去了，结果拍了 Officers 合影之后，就散了。”

Ten members headed to a BBQ joint afterwards for 46 yuan per person. New SAA Brent wasted no time getting to work, posting a snack-preference survey for future meetings before the night was over: “SAA 现在就上岗，想做个问卷调查，请问各位对会议小食有何要求。”

Brownie’s message to the club the next day set the tone for the new term: “欢迎新老朋友有空回来坐，来玩，来聊，新官员团队会继续致力于办好每次会议，SZTM 初心不变，热情不变，希望大家开心有收获。”
