A new home

This was the club’s first meeting at Huarong Building on Mintian Road. Members navigating the stairwell found the doors locked and had to take the elevator instead. Once inside, the lighting turned out to be a pleasant surprise: “我觉得这个灯光效果还挺好的……就有舞台的灯光感.”

Prepared speeches

Four speakers took the stage. David later watched his own recording and posted a detailed self-evaluation, noting that he moved around too much and his vocabulary felt repetitive when he got stuck. Others disagreed: “我连续看了两遍，很流畅。故事性也很强，现场听的时候只记得女孩递矿泉水，可惜只此一面。回头再看有那么多好内容在.” Another member said they had listened to David’s video “不少于 10 遍.”

Susie, Tao, and Enya also delivered speeches, rounding out a full evening.

Table Topics: the exam that bonds a nation

The Table Topics session was split into two halves, with Mike running the Gao Kao-themed round and Maecenas taking the second. The theme drew out reflections that ranged from philosophical to reassuring. As one member summarized afterward: “From Min: Every choice u make is meaningful! From Josh: Take it easy, 高考 is the easiest thing among challenges in life time.” Eureka’s response moved at least one person in the room: “Eureka tonight very touching me. You share your true feeling.”

Welcome, Lori

Lori officially joined the club at this meeting. Members welcomed her warmly, with one recalling a small but vivid detail: “我一直记得，在保税区吃的她送的饼干.” VPE David wrapped up the evening: “For those of you who were at the meeting tonight. Thank you for your active participation! Because of you, we had a fabulous evening.”
