Work, Life, Balance
A full house
The 995th meeting drew a crowd. As one member reported before the meeting: “今晚会议 接龙的 guest 跟 member 一样多.” Guests matched members on the sign-up sheet, and the energy carried through the evening. Some guests had trouble finding the venue at Huarong Building: one circled the lobby looking for the training room, another ended up at China Construction Bank next door. They all made it eventually.
Prepared speeches
Anna opened with “Conquer Fear, Embrace Life,” a speech on facing what holds us back, delivered as part of her Innovative Planning pathway. Cammellia Ye followed with “Just Do It,” sharing her English learning journey. The group chat lit up afterwards: “初版元老级别哈哈哈” and “哈哈哈哈 这是小学课本吗,” teasing the nostalgic material she had brought to the stage. Min closed the prepared speeches with “Love Story from the 1960s,” telling a love story from a different era.
The evaluations
David wore two hats that night, serving as both Meeting Manager and one of the speech evaluators. During the evaluation session, he offered a line that stuck with the room: “Evaluation is a speech itself!” Both Eureka and David completed their role grand slam at this meeting, having now filled every functional role at least once.
After the meeting
The guests left happy. One wrote: “Thanks much guys. Pleasure to meet wonderful and positive people. Have a good night.” Another simply said: “Nice experience.” A young guest who had planned to leave early ended up staying for the entire meeting.
Edwin documented the evening extensively, shooting about fifty photos with his Mate 70 Pro+. When asked what phone he used, he replied: “Mate 70 pro+ 红枫影像,加点技术.” Stella wrapped up the night by posting brain teasers in the group chat: “来玩脑筋急转弯.”
The next day brought more good news: Kristin, who had joined SZTM’s hiking trip during the National Day holiday and attended this meeting as a guest, decided to become a member. As Brownie announced: “Kristin 国庆第一次参加了我们的爬山活动,昨晚来线下会议后就决定加入我们了,开心开心,欢迎欢迎.”
