Annual Dinner

Not a meeting. On the Tuesday before Lunar New Year the club took its regular slot to a restaurant instead, at 码头见 in Central Walk, a place the group calls its old haunt.

The plan came together on the spot at the end of the previous meeting (“下周有饭吃吗，开心🥳”), and the organiser spent an afternoon on the phone before finding a room: “打了一圈电话，要么没有包间，要么没有位置，目前最合适的还是中心城的码头见，也是我们的老据点.” He booked the largest room available, good for fifteen or more, and started calling people in one by one: “一个都不能少.” Two members volunteered to bring wine and beer.

The club’s own records disagree about what to call this evening. The sign-up chain went out labelled the 1011th meeting; the note published two days earlier called it the 1012th. Neither number matches the meetings on either side of it, which is what happens when a dinner borrows a meeting’s slot. It is filed here by its date.
